What Odyssey is becoming
Odyssey Archives has expanded beyond its original scope. Current work is focused on narrowing the concept around structured historical entities, relationships and a realistic first implementation.
Odyssey Archives began as a relatively simple concept for exploring historical material, but the potential scope quickly expanded across archives, books, research, artefacts, institutions, places and community features.
That breadth creates a product-design problem. Attempting to define or build every possible system simultaneously would make it difficult to validate the central idea.
The current direction is therefore to treat Odyssey as a modular concept and identify the smallest useful version of its core experience: structured historical entities connected through meaningful relationships and supported by clear provenance.
More ambitious systems can remain outside the initial scope until that foundation has been tested. The immediate challenge is not adding features, but determining which relationships and information structures are necessary for historical exploration to be useful.
